Ah Kong

Ah Kong has suffered a couple of strokes over the years and now suffers from dementia. A once independent man now needs his family around him, and we love him.

Sunday with Rena

This Sunday was a little different than most of our lazy Sundays. Woke up at 7am and made our way to our climb up the Tree Top walk....ok maybe I exaggerated, we only walked up lots of slopes. Boy, was it tiring but the air was fresh and the view was great from the suspension bridge. To quiet our rumbling stomachs after the great workout, we headed for PS Cafe at Harding Road to have breakfast. Sausages, eggs, bacon, mummmmmm....absolutely delectable. This place reminds me of New Zealand, the menu and the service brings me back to the mornings I had breakfast with Dawn at Mt Eden. Excellent place to bring a date ;)

Then we visited the much heard about Red Dot Museum's flee market, but we got distracted by the murals on the walls, interesting place to hang out. Rena almost bought a handpainted mirror for her new room, thank goodness she didn't or it would have been impluse buying.
Red Dot Museum at Maxwell road used to be Traffice Police Building, now it is turned into an office building with a museums and some chic bars and cafes....go check it out!

Dad's 58th Birthday Celebration

Fussing over what to buy for dad for his birthday is always a challenge and we had to always crack our heads, literally! Ya we could have bought him a shirt, golf accessories, wallet, perfume, etc.....so boring and he has got all that already. Dad's love for food has transcended into the 3 of us in the family over the years, and so we thought "how about a nice family dinner" where food was going to be the focus! Yummy!

Chef Hiew at the Cherry Garden did a great job in impressing my family with the food. It was a six course meal that we didn't want to let it end. First course was a mini birthday bun and because we did not have a cake for dad that evening, we sang him his birthday song with the longevity buns. Oh the shark's fin was to die for, although I have had it before it was still mouth watering. It may look so simple and plain but the shark's fin bone soup is creamy and tasty, and not forgetting the "bottomless pit" of shark's fin that we had to scoop through. All shark conservationist, please shut your eyes...hee hee.
The food was so delicious that we ordered an additional portion of wasabi prawns...Chef must think we are gluttons! But who cares, we enjoyed. And of course, there was dessert. When it arrived all went "WOW"! You will see why, mango puree with lime sorbet and pomelo on a bowl of dry ice.......thanks Chef Hiew it was a dinner we will always remember.

Sisterhood

When she was born, I was overwhelmed with jealousy. I was the apple of my parents eyes! Cried myself silly.....and as she grew, I teased her and bullied her. She was a scrawny little one and I was the "big" sister. Little miss vain pot, that's what we used to call her. She loved parading in her pretty dresses Ah Ma made for her. She was the center of attraction....still is...look at her pose; hasn't lost it yet. Strangely as we grew older the bond grows stronger, we "gang" up against our parents and share our little secrets! Hey...wat are sisters for......we now even share our clothes and have the same taste in music ;)
